Do you want a thicker and greener lawn? Does your neighbor's lawn make you jealous?

In this article, I have the answers for you. This will be information to help you do this on your own or you can call us to handle it for you if you are in our service area.

A thicker and greener lawn takes some time and patience as well as some steps to achieve. Continue reading.

Mowing Your Lawn Properly

In order to have the thicker and greener lawn you want you must mow your lawn properly. If you mow your lawn a bit short it can cause damage to your lawn making the grass stressed. It is recommended to regularly mow but at 3 to 4 inches.

On top of that, it is important to have a sharp blade on your mower. This will cut each blade of grass cleanly and prevent disease.

Water Your Grass Properly

Grass is a plant and it requires water. The heat of the sun can cause damage to your lawn and starve it of nutrients. Regular watering at the right times will help keep your lawn thick green and healthy. It is recommended to water your lawn between 4 am to 7 am for best results.

Also, watering about 30 minutes every other day is my personal recommendation. This really depends on where you are in the world and how much natural rain comes into play. If you do not get a lot of rain then consider watering once daily but early morning for best results.

Fertilize Your Lawn Properly

Too much is bad, too little is not so great either. We want to improve our lawns so whatever chemical you are using will need to be used properly. There are spread instructions on every bag of feed. If this doesn't seem like something you can handle just give us a call. We can use our experience and expertise to help you and your lawn.

Weed Control

Weeds like crabgrass can suffocate your grass and spread much faster causing your lawn to be full of weeds rather than grass. That is not what we want.

If you do not plan to seed your lawn in the spring (we recommend fall seeding anyway) then consider using a preemergent to prevent weeds. Preemergent will prevent grass seeds from germinating but also does the same for weeds hence this recommendation.

Using a preemergent will prevent weeds from growing and suffocating your lawn.

Aeration Overseeding

Personally, I do this in the fall for my lawn. This is the best time to do it and will help you achieve a thicker greener healthier lawn.

Aeration allows for air to get into the ground around the seeds and grass. It also helps the seeds have a place to start.

Overseeding is the process of spreading grass seed all across your lawn. There are more steps to this to prevent birds from eating your seed etc. We can help you with this entire process.

Irrigation System

An irrigation system will take the guesswork out of watering your lawn. The more automated it is the better. Sometimes we forget things and that includes watering the lawn. I speak from experience and I am the lawn guy.

We can help you with your irrigation system so that you can rest easy knowing everything is automated and working properly.

Conclusion

A thicker greener and healthier lawn can be achieved anywhere. You just need a little time and patience to make it happen. If you would like to get a quote on any of the services listed above please give us a call on the contact page of our website. We do provide free no-hassle quotes.
